I am a dual fellowship-trained Consultant Trauma and Orthopaedic Surgeon at York Hospital, part of York and Scarborough Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust, and my elective practice is exclusively the knee. I look after athletes from a wide range of sports, from primary and revision ACL reconstruction and multi-ligament knee reconstruction to meniscal preservation surgery and cartilage surgery, helping them return to play.
For early arthritis I offer biological, PRP and Arthrosamid injections, cartilage procedures and osteotomy. For advanced, bone-on-bone arthritis my philosophy is to replace only the diseased part of the knee, with partial, patellofemoral and total knee replacements.
Download my CV (PDF)I completed two specialist knee fellowships at Wrightington Hospital, a world-renowned centre for orthopaedic surgery and the birthplace of the modern hip replacement.
I have published 21 peer-reviewed papers and 43 abstracts, cited more than 300 times, and given 50 podium and poster presentations, including at the AAOS (Chicago), EFORT, SICOT and BASK meetings. My MSc thesis studied 20-year survival and patient satisfaction after total knee replacement. I peer review for the journal Injury, and I am an Associate Editorial Board Member of the Open Orthopaedic Journal.
